Polling dates:15 April, 19 April (Flinders, Frome, Newcastle), 6 May (Northern Territory). Electoral districts returned 2 members and the electoral system permitted voters to cast more that one vote. Government in office at election: Playford replaced Cockburn as premier of a ministerialist minority government on 19 August 1890, and Holder replaced Playford as premier of a ministerialist minority government on 21 June 1892. The Downer Conservative minority government replaced the Holder ministerialist minority government on 15 October 1892. Government after election: The Kingston Liberal minority government did not take office until 16 June 1893 after the Assembly met for the first time.
