Election dates:. Elections were held over the period from 4 November to 4 December 1873.

Premier in office after election:

Electoral system and franchise: Under the provisions of the Electoral Districts Act 1872, Queensland was divided into 42 single member electoral districts and, although property qualifications for voting remained, plural voting -- being able to vote in more than one electoral district -- was abolished by the Elections Act 1871.
